Buenos Aires, December 2 (NA) — A man experiencing a psychotic episode was rescued and assisted on the Pacific Bridge in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo following a wide and dramatic operation. According to information sent to the Argentine News Agency, on Monday evening moments of high tension occurred when neighbors in the area called 911 about a man on the Bridge, located at the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Juan B. Justo, who intended to throw himself into the void. In this way, a rescue operation was established in two groups by the City Police and Fire Department personnel: one made contact with the man from the public street, while the second moved along the tracks to approach him from above. As in other cases, and as a preventive measure, a rescue mattress was placed at the site. Minutes later, authorities confirmed that the situation was successfully controlled. Regarding the man, he was subdued and assisted by GER Saavedra personnel, and SAME transferred him to Rivadavia Hospital with a diagnosis of a psychotic episode.
